Also known as Porter Pink. ***PLEASE NOTE***: Our variety is the original Porter. Many seed companies (Totally Tomatoes, Bonnie Plants, Willhite Seeds, Victory Seeds, etc.) sell 'Porter Impoved' or "Porter's Pride" as their 'Porter' seed. Porter Improved and Porter's Pride are both redder in color and more plum shaped.
This old-time drought-resistant favorite in the Southwest. Our strain is the original Porter, which was developed by V.O Porter, a seedsman from Stephenville, Texas. His goal was to find a tomato that would be reliable in the heat and humidity of the Texas growing season. His company, Porter and Sons Seed Company, published their first seed catalog in 1914 with Porter Tomato as one of their featured varieties. Although the company went out of business in 1994, Porter Tomato remains a staple in gardens not only in the south, but here in our Wisconsin garden as well.
Porter features pink skins and 2 oz. smooth, elongated round-to-egg-shaped fruits on sprawling, vigorous vines. If well staked, we have been told that it is a great variety for growing in a container or hanging planter. High yields of these tender-skinned beauties are a perfect choice for canning and juicing. Indeterminate. About 75 days to maturity after transplanting.
We recommend growing Porter tomatoes in full sun. They do not require a pollinator in order to produce fruit. Planting and care instructions are included with each purchase.

I hope these are actually for the Porter tomato developed by H.L. Porter and his son Gene in my hometown of Stephenville, Texas. I don’t understand why they are so hard to find. They still after 50+ yrs are still better than any of the cherry tomatoes.

These original Porter seeds were hard to find on line, so I am appreciative. I have always kept these seeds from my own tomatoes, but just forgot to save seeds 2 yrs ago. These are far superior to any “cherry” tomatoes! I bought my first seeds or plants from Gene Porter or maybe even his father H.L. Porter in my hometown of Stephenville, Texas.
