Moluccella laevis

Despite the name, this striking annual is native to western Asia and is prized for its tall spikes of vibrant green, bell-shaped calyces surrounding tiny white flowers. An excellent choice for borders, cutting gardens, and floral arrangements, it also dries beautifully for long-lasting displays.
Plants grow 24–36 inches tall and thrive in full sun with well-drained soil. Sow seeds outdoors after the last frost or start indoors 6–8 weeks before planting. Keep soil evenly moist during germination, which may take 2–4 weeks. Harvest stems when the green bells are fully developed for the longest vase life.
