Dester Tomato Seeds -- Organically Grown, non-GMO, Heirloom, Made in Wisconsin - USA

Winner of the Seed Savers Exchange Tomato Tasting Contest in 2011. Said to originally come from Germany with the ancestors of Dr. Herbert Edgar Dester (1926-74) of Berne, Indiana. He was a devout Christian and a Mennonite missionary to India to provide medical missionary services. He shared the seed with his Amish housekeeper, Ann. Upon her relocation to Missouri, she raised the variety and shared it with a local farmer, Larry Pierce. Pierce submitted it to SSE. Large pink beefsteaks are oblate with smooth shoulders and outstanding sweet flavor. Very meaty flesh with small seed locules and very few seeds. Fruits are about 12-20 ounces and good for all purposes. Regular leaves, indeterminate. About 90 days to maturity after transplanting.

We recommend growing Dester tomatoes in full sun. They do not require a pollinator in order to produce fruit. Planting and care instructions are included with each purchase.
