California Bluebells Phalecia campanularia Seeds, AKA Desert Bluebells -- Organically Grown, non-GMO, Heirloom, Made in Wisconsin - USA

One of the easiest and most enduring annuals we grow here at our farm, and a favorite of our bees and pollinators. These brilliant, vivid true blue upward-facing cup-shaped flowers glow in the garden, even when conditions are dry. Also called Desert Bluebells, the plants are accustomed to extreme arid conditions and daily fluctutions of hot to cold weather. For use in the much more moderate Midwest, we find that they grow well during our average or dry summers, and are even more profuse bloomers when we have a wetter-than-normal summer. Plants are somewhat more petite, so we recommend growing in spaces in rock gardens, and in the front of flower beds. We even had a customer that sows clumps of Californa bluebells between vegetable rows of vine crops and okra to attract more pollinators! Great for containers too!

Height: 6-10 inches tall by about 6 inches wide at our Zone 4A farm, but we have had customers in southern zones have them reach up to 18 inches.

Hardiness: Frost-tolerant annual (killing freeze will take them out)

When to Sow Outside: RECOMMENDED. 2 to 4 weeks before your average last frost date; also in late summer and fall, especially in mild climates.

When to Start Inside: 6 to 8 weeks before your average last frost date.
